So Tired

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years. ~Simone Signoret

(YAWN) oh- excuse me!
I am SOOOOO sleepy today. John woke up in the middle of the night last night (around 2:45) with a killer Migraine. He was in agony, and no amount of IB profin, cold packs, or neck massages were helping.

Instead of letting him go moan it off in the guest room, I persuaded him to stay in our room. (Otherwise he would have been alone and miserable, and I would have been awake listening to make sure he was ok- so I figured we might as well stay awake together).
As I was laying there last night massaging his neck and trying to not fall asleep on him (we didn't fall alseep until 5:30am I think), I realised that this is the evidence of a what real relationship is.

Relationships are not all about candlelit dinner and movie dates and quiet nights at home. (while they can be part of it- they are so much more than that).
Lasting relationships are ones that take place in the middle of the night when your loved one is in pain and you would rather lay awake and massage his neck and hold his hand than to leave him in agony and go get some needed sleep in the other room. It is climbing out of a warm bed to go scrub a toilet so that is he gets sick, it is as clean as it can be in there.

It is sleeping in a totally uncomfy position, so that you do not wake someone up after they have found some tentative comfort in a light sleep. It is when someone will drop everything to come rescue you on the side of the road when your car breaks down. Or not get mad when I have left my lunch dishes in the sink Again!

It is the bad nights, hard days, and emotional breakdown moments that show you what your relationships are made of. As bad as last night was, I woke up this morning knowing that our relationship was stronger, and that we will be there to weather the bad times together.

Breakfast Movie

Here is a goofy\random video from my little brother.

So Many Changes

Well I spoke with one of my oldest and dearest guy friends today. His name is Anthony and we are the kinda friends that, yeah- it has probably been 8 months since we last spoke, but we pick up right where we left off, and we can talk about absolutely anything without any awkwardness or judgement. He lives in northern CA and is about 3.5 hours away- and I miss seeing him as much as I used to. (it has been almost 2 years since we last saw each other)
Our first meeting was almost a fluke, but we were best buds by the end of the day and have been close ever since.

Well he got married about....um 3 years ago I think, and when I spoke with him today he told me that they just bought a house, and they were also expecting their first Child. She is not too far along (3 months) and they get to find out the sex of the baby tomorrow. I am SO excited for him! I know that he is going to be the best of dads.

It makes me a bit sad though at the same time. When I went to visit my pen pal Rebecca every 6-12 months, we would all hang out and get along (he used to be her neighbor- that is how I met him).... and now Rebecca is married and looking forward to starting a family, Anthony is married and expecting a baby- and a few of the others in "the group" are married--- and I am one of the last who is not in "that place".... - well I AM in that place, but John is not there yet.
Oh well.... soon I hope. (John and I have been dating almost 3 years now so I hope that things will start moving that direction soon)

But I am so Excited for Anthony! hooray for them!

Catch Up

Well it has been a week or so since I was able to really focus on much of anything for 1 stretch of time- so my posts need a quick cacth up.

Bed Update: STILL NOT HERE! Ahhh! the mattress was 2 days late, and the frame (which we thought was already in) is still at least a week away. So after getting cramped and stuffy in the guest room, we decided to "rough it" and we started sleeping on the new mattress while it was still on the floor. It is a bit odd to have the covers bunch up on you while you are sleeping instead of drape over the bed, but oh the space!!! I think that the first 2 nights on the new mattress that I didn't even once touch John the whole night- not even a stray toe brush..... Gotta love all that sleeping space!

This weekend I spent a hefty bit of time trying to get my scrapbook\craft room back into a working order... so what did I do when I needed a cleaning break? A friend and I headed to the scrapbook store for more goodies of course! (sigh) oh well.... just more crafty clutter to love :)

I also scored a few cool things at garage sales this weekend. A shelf with pull out drawers (great for craft supplies!) and some cool pottery canister for all my paintbrushes. I will have to clean up the craft room and post pictures eventually. I got most of the floor visable this weekend and about 1\4 of my workspace is now visable down to the tablecloth (the other 3/4 is still buried in a foot of half finished projects)

We also made it to the movies this weekend. We saw Oceans 13- and I have to say that I was WAY more pleased with it than Oceans 12. It was probably as good as the 1st movie and not as back and forth crazy as the second.

Oh well.... time to get working.

Getting my Paint On

Well this weekend was full of painting. Not "fun crafty Painting" but the "lay out the tarp, paint the ceiling, get the corners and don't drip on the floor" kinda painting.

John and I are getting a new CA king size bed tomorrow (hooray!) and so we decided to spend that weekend preparing for it. We moved out guest room bed outside (good riddance!) and we moved everything out of the guestroom and we painted it. We then moved everything BACK into the guestroom along with everything that was in our bedroom and painted our bedroom. Since the bed frame is a chocolate brown wood, we decided to move from a soft mocha brown paint and cover it with a soft cream..... which means we get to paint about 3 layers to cover the darkness..... I am now burned out on painting (and having breathed enough fumes to need a smog check!) But the new bed will look nice, and it will be a luxury to have so much space (goodbye Queen- hello king!)

Ciao!

~Not a great day~

"Some days there won't be a song in your heart. Sing anyway." ~Emory Austin

I am trying to keep this in mind today. I am not having a good day- maybe this weekend will be better. In the meantime, I am going to keep trying to singing :)

Getting crafty

Well... 10 O'clock is here and no sign of John yet... :( I am not used to so much "alone" time in the house. He is only gone for 1 week a year for work, and so with the exception of 21 days over the last 3 years, we have spent every day together. So one of our birds, Sprout, (a parrotlet) and I are hagning out in the office awaiting his return (but since he will probably be home at midnight, I think I will give up watch and go to bed soon).

Well I had started out wanting to make a "idea Journal" for fun, but as I was creating tonight, the project took a turn and headed in a different direction. I am not sure where it is going, but it is more of a art journal than anything else. I am not a big painter on my pages (which I am tying to change) but I have spent the last few hours playing with paint and brushes and in genreal making a huge mess, but loving it.

I always have doubts that what I am making is not a cute as others can make it, or as trendy or whatever. I used to let this get in the way of making things, and projects would end up by the wayside, but I have been spending a lot of time on Donna Downey's blog (
http://donnadowney.typepad.com/ ) and her motto is "Perfect just the way that you create" and I have really been repeating this motto to myself the last few days. No, it may not be magazine worthy, Blog worthy, or even all that cute, but it is somthing that I have created and that is all my own, and that makes it perfect just the way it is.

When I finish it (or at least get more of it done than it is now) I will post some pics and show you what I am making (or trying to make anyway) Good night!

Why oh Why?

" How like herrings and onions our vices are in the morning after we have committed them." ~Samuel Taylor Coleridge

How true that is! Last night I was left alone in the house. John had to go out of town overnight on business and so I was by my lonesome last night. Alone- in the house- on a hot evening- with a entire brand new quart of Dryers Mocha almond fudge Ice cream & a fresh new bottle of Chocolate Fudge magic Shell (that chocolate sauce that turns hard on contact with the icecream)... can you see where this is going?

Well you guessed it... I ended up over-doing it (again). No, I didn't eat the entire container of Ice cream, heck I didn't even eat 1/4 of it, but I did have 2 full bowls and half a bottle of that magic shell (oh what a weakness I have for that stuff!). And I stayed up on a work night until 11:00 watching quilty pleasure TV. But this Morning I was over-tired and still ice cream hungover..... ugh... few things are as strong as the lure of Junk TV and snacking- especally when you know that no one will ever know about it (aka the boyfriend who is trying to make sure you stick with your diet at least a little bit)

E! TV has the most lame but fully entrancing shows. I had laughed at the concept of the show "Sunset Tan" but I will admit that I spent over a hour watching it last night and had to force myself to turn it off so that i could get up early the next morning.

Besides myself, both my art projects and my bathroom scale is glad that John will be home tonight and I will once again become a faithfull dieter and less a idle tv-monger.

Feeling Creative

Well the birthday bash was fun (and filling!). I think I had 4 or 5 Tacos and a huge slice of death by chocolate mega cake. I had to be rolled home, but I think that I have now recovered.
(and a big salad for lunch helped the ego feel better about the bad numbers on the scale this morning!)

I am feeling very creative today- but alas! I am stuck at work again. Being a 9 to 5er has it benefits (as in not getting up at 3 am to work in a bakery) but I also miss the ability to stay home on a warm sunny afternoon and scrapbook.
I always seem to hit my creative stride in the middle of the week, and that is when I have the least time to create. I have a after work meeting to attend and then John and I have friends coming over for a BBQ this evening. It is going to be fun as always, but I know that I will be looking lovingly down the hallway towards the closed Scraproom door wishing for a few more hours of the day to be able to get crafty.

I am going to start working on a idea\inspiration Journal. I saw something in a magazine that was all about home decorating and ideas. The idea was to rip out pictures of rooms that inspired you and to write about the colors and what you love about it so when you went to decorate you would have a journal of ideas- and so I am going to create a Scrapbooking version. I have so many ideas and thoughts and little things that come to me, and unless I remember to jot it down quickly I seem to lose the idea forever..... I will try to find some time to work on it this week, and will post some results.

Happy Birthday To Me!!

Well today is my birthday! I am 2 dozen years old :)

While I still had to work today (at 2 jobs no less!) I still was able to celebrate by having a "circus donut" for breakfast :)

John (my Boyfriend and co-worker) bought 2 boxes of donuts to share for the office and how could I reisist such temptation? Well 3 donuts later I was feeling a bit "partied" out, but now 8 hours later I am looking forward to my birthday dinner at my parents house. We are have having my dads famous "Zech Tacos" and a HUGE 3 layer chocolate cake with chocolate curls.

I cannot tell you how excited I am for the "Zech Tacos"! I can make almost any dish, but that is one of the few that has eluded me. They always end up burnt, falling apart or just too oil soaked to taste good- so tonight is a treat of epic proportions! It has been probably 5 years since my last taste! I am SO excited!

Nothing says "Summer" Like Ripe Strawberries!

I was about to have some strawberries last night (in my new handmade looking mug) and I loved the colors so much I had to grab my camera and take a shot of it. I cannot get enough of summer time fruit!

New Craft Toy

Well While at the bookstore today (to pick up some new scrapbook magazines) I found this set of pens and nibs and instruction book to learn calligraphy. I had a set a longtime ago, but I never took the time to practice and sadly all the parts went missing. I am going to give it a shot and let you know how it turns out.
